Susan Johnson has an 18-year history as a local business leader.  She was the general manager for Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre for many years and is an award-winning PR professional who has always had a theatrical and creative flair. Together, Jean and Susan opened The Nest in December 2011 with a shared commitment and dedication to the  Fort Myers' Historic District.

The Nest Home and Garden opened in December 2011 with Mother and Daughter team, Jean Bynes Porpora and Susan Johnson. "We had always wanted to work on an art type of project and loved the smaller boutique retail shops around the country.  We got our wish and opened The Nest in 2011," said Susan Johnson.

Jean Bynes-Porpora was a very well-respected local artist and 26-year resident of Fort Myers.  She was involved in both The Alliance for the Arts and The Bonita Art League.  Jean owned several businesses in Fort Myers but her passion was always in art and home design and decor.    Jean and Susan worked together for over three years creating The Nest.  Jean passed away on October 8, 2014, and Susan, her sister and her daughters continue their love of home decor trends.
